Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Announced with 2nm Process
Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, its next-generation flagship mobile processor built on TSMC's 2nm process node. The new chip promises 30% better power efficiency and 25% improved CPU performance over the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Performance Improvements
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 features a new custom Qualcomm Oryon CPU architecture with two ultra-high-performance cores clocked at 4.8GHz and six efficiency cores. The chip also debuts a new Adreno 900-series GPU that Qualcomm claims delivers 40% better ray tracing performance.
The integrated Hexagon NPU has been upgraded to deliver 100 TOPS of AI performance, a 50% improvement over the previous generation. This enables more advanced on-device AI features including real-time video enhancement and advanced natural language processing.
